With a project value of £600k, the refurbishment and extension of this Victorian townhouse on one of South Kensington's busiest thoroughfares presented a daunting challenge from the outset, as we had to comply with conservation area rules.
Ignored for many years, and having become badly dilapidated, the property was in need of a complete strip out, substantial structural work and a complete refurbishment to once more make it habitable for our French client's young family.
Working closely with the France based architect, David Price Design, we replaced all the floors and stairs, built a glass roof extension to the existing lightwell at first floor level, introduced automatic opening skylights at roof level and replaced the sash windows throughout. All services, and finishes were replaced, from top to bottom, effectively providing the owner with a new house.
Oak parquet sourced from the continent brought another level of classic charm to this beautiful home in the centre of London.
